BIRGUNJ: A 20-year-old woman successfully gave birth to quadruplets, three girls and a boy, at Birgunj Health Care Hospital, without any major complications, on Tuesday.
According to Matron Bhumika Adhikari, all of the newborn babies and the mother are in good health.
Najma Khatun of Chiparmai Jaymanglapur-4 in Parsa district delivered preterm infants around 12:40 pm, in the seventh month (28 weeks) of pregnancy at the hospital.
However, the quadruplets were underweight, with each of the twins weighing less than 1,100 grams, and kept under medical observation in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the same hospital.
Although this was a premature delivery, the mother and all four-newborns are in stable condition, said Dr Shewta Chaudhary.
She further said that quadruplets are quite rare and occur usually once in seven to eight lakh pregnancies.
