Police today claimed to have arrested the prime accused in Bogura BNP leader Mahbub Alam Shahin murder case from Paltan area of Dhaka this evening.
The arrestee, Aminul Islam, secretary of Bogura District Motor Owners Group, was held near the gate no. 3 of Bangabandhu National Stadium around 6:30pm, Sanatan Chakrabarty, additional superintendent of police in Bogura, told our local correspondent.
In their confessional statements, Rassel, 28, and Payel Sheikh, 38, who were held on April 17 in this connection, described Aminul, also the coucillor of Ward no. 17 in Bogua town, as the mastermind of the murder, said Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, superintendent of police in Bogura.
Twelve assailants attacked Mahbub, general secretary of the district unit of BNP and a resident of Jhopgari area, and stabbed him in the chest and leg on April 14, leaving him critically injured, police said.
Later, Mahbub was rushed to the nearby Mohammad Ali Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
