Bangladesh Chhatra League Unit of Chittagong University (CU) halted the shuttle train service as they went on an indefinite strike on the campus since this morning to press home their demands including resignation of the proctor.
The BCL activists took position at different points on the campus reportedly barring students from joining classes and also allegedly punctured the tyres of the buses meant to bring teachers to the campus, reports our CU correspondent.
Meanwhile, the locomaster of the shuttle train was also intercepted by the BCL activists and sent home, said officer-in-charge of Chattogram Railway Police Station Mustafizur Rahman.
WHAT ARE THE DEMANDS OF THE BCL MEN?
The striking BCL activists have been demanding the resignation of Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury, withdrawal of the officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station Belal Mohammad Jahangir for allegedly framing a false arms case against six BCL leaders of the CU unit.
They also demanded authorities concerned to withdraw all political cases filed against Chhatra League leaders between 2015 and 2018 and the release of the six BCL leaders who were arrested a few days back in the “falsely framed” arms case, the correspondent reports quoting senior BCL leaders.
