Bara, April 3
In coordination with local governments, the Ministry of Social Development of Province 2 and the United Nations Population Fund today distributed 200 dignity kits to women of reproductive age, including pregnant women and new mothers, affected by the windstorm.
“Given that majority of the displaced women and girls are living under insanitary conditions, we decided to distribute something that would help maintain their dignity, hygiene and health,” said MoSD Nursing Officer Sunita Gupta. “The dignity kits were supported by UNFPA and the pregnant and nursing mothers urgently needed them,” she added.
The kits were distributed at Prasauni Rural Municipality of Bara and also to the injured women and girls who are undergoing treatment at Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital and Birgunj Health Care Hospital. Gupta said women and girls affected by natural disasters had peculiar needs.
