Bhojpur, March 29
Bhojpur’s Arun Rural Municipality has launched a door-to-door campaign to learn about the health and nutrition condition of new mothers.
According to the rural municipality vice-chairperson Binita Dhakal, they visit new mothers at their home to learn about their condition and support them.
“There is a team including the RM chairperson, local health workers and the secretary of the concerned ward and it’s the same team that visits such women at their home, learn about their condition and support them,” Dhakal said.
“New mothers are provided with a rooster, rice, a set of clothes for the baby and Rs 500 in cash, among other things, considering their requirements,” Dhakal added further.
The rural municipality had launched the campaign from January this year.
Shobha Rai Katuwal, a newly mother of Arun Rural Municipality-6, was all praise for the new campaign run by the local government.
“There are cases when our own parents cannot make it to come to meet us and learn about us. It’s a good practice that the people’s representatives come to learn about our condition and provide us necessary things,” she said.
Arun Rural Municipality-6 Ward Secretary Bidur Bhattarai said the campaign had come as a huge relief to poor families that cannot afford to provide enough care and support to new mothers.
