Haryanavi singer and dancer Sapna Chaudhary has landed herself in the middle of a controversy over whether she has joined the Congress or not.
A day after a photograph of her was shared on social media showing her with Priyanka Gandhi, she claimed that she had not joined any party and that she was not going to campaign for any party either.
In an interaction with some reporters, Sapna Chaudhary said, “I have not joined the Congress party. The photograph with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is old. I am not going to campaign for any political party.”

Shortly after that, images of her filling up the Congress membership form as well as the form itself appeared on social media.
The form shows her photograph and is dated March 23, 2019, and also has her signature.
UP Congress secretary Narendra Rathi, who was present when she filled up her form, was quoted by news agency ANI as saying on Sunday, “Sapna Chaudhary came and filled the membership form herself, her signature is on it. Her sister also joined the party yesterday, we have both of their forms.”

It was believed that the Congress would field Sapna Chaudhary against BJP’s sitting MP from Mathura Hema Malini.
Known for her dance routines and popular songs, Sapna Chaudhary was a contestant on the popular reality show Bigg Boss and was also a part of a song in the movie Veere Di Wedding.
