KATHMANDU: A woman, her daughter and son reportedly killed themselves in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-18 of Chitwan district last night.
The deceased have been identified as Maya Ale Magar, who appeared to be in her mid-30s, daughter Binita of around 13 to 14 years of age and son Bibek of 11 to12 years.
The Chitwan District Police Office (DPO) confirmed that three members of the same family living in Clinic Tole of Shantinagar in Bharatpur were found hanging on Thursday night.
The preparation was underway to bring the bodies of the deceased to local Bharatpur Hospital for postmortem.
After the preliminary investigation, Information Officer at the DPO, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Durga Raj Regmi told The Himalayan Times correspondent Tilak Ram Rimal that the mother, her son and daughter committed suicide by hanging themselves with scarf in the same room at home.
Likewise, locals have also presumed that the woman might have committed suicide after getting her children hung.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the incident is underway, said police.
The deceased woman’s husband Nar Bahadur Ale Magar, who has been serving in Nepal Army in Kathmandu, was not at home when the incident took place, it has been reported.
